If you are using the Windows 10 Pro or Ultimate version, another method is to make changes in Group Policy Editor. * Click on the Change settings that are currently unavailable link, under Shutdown settings, uncheck the “Turn on fast startup” box, and click on the Save changes button. * Click on the Choose what the power buttons do link in the left side. * Open the Control Panel (icons view), and click on the Power Options. The Fast Startup feature, which is by default setted to ON in Windows 10, may causes the issues. * First you must be signed in as an administrator account to do that. If you also face the same issues, try the tips to get rid of that.
The screen saver timeout always stuck at 1 minute and doesn’t allow to change its setting to anything else.
Running the System File Checker (SFC) command was not working at all. The same issues happened on my Desktop computer and oneSurface Pro 3 tablet. I reverted back the setting and that only took afects if I did a restart. After I powered down the machine then rebooted, the screen saver time kept resetting to 1 minute. I had configured my screen saver waiting time to 30 minutes in Windows 10 and it worked fine.
